About Me

I have been doing hair since my first week of cosmetology school back in 1986. Since then I have been hooked on this industry very much! Helping people look their best is very rewarding: If you look good, you feel good!

I continued training after graduation from cosmetology school with honors, by taking classes and working as a stylist assistant. My mentor was Sassoon-trained, and my experience and skills grew under their guidance.

I have worked around the Twin Cities metro area in many salons and in many positions, finally earning the title Platinum Design Stylist.

I have participated in numerous training seminars, classes, and shows, from some big names within the industry.

I served as an in-salon educator and class instructor leading workshops and one-on-one training to beginning stylists among many other rolls. I have assisted in many training videos, and did hair for photo shoots. During one hair show, I was even awarded excellence in “Way Out” styling, which was very fun!

My biggest and most exciting leap was to be a Self Employed/Independent Contractor/Manager (now Salon Suite Owner) Operating my own business— Hair Design By Tom, LLC.

Hair Design By Tom was established in 2008.
